If you are interested in volunteering during Auction Week, listed below are the positions and their description.
- Day Set-Up: Assists with setting up studio, prior to "live" Auction; must report by 3PM to 6PM
- Greeter: Greets guests and makes them feel welcome. Shows auction volunteers where to sign in and directs them to their area and where instructions will be given by Head Troubleshooter.
- Head Troubleshooter: (1) Must commit to work 3-4 evenings of the Auction. Instructs and coordinates Troubleshooters. This position is tasked with briefing phone bank volunteers on the proper way to fill out the auction bid forms as well as cautioned on TV Auction policies.
- Troubleshooters: (4) Must commit to work 3-4 evenings of the Auction. Checks bid forms for accuracy; assists in answering any questions regarding bids; reports to the Head Troubleshooter any improper activity going on in the studio. Also, monitors Bid Takers, Sorters and Runners refreshment breaks.
- Evening Confirmers: (4) Calls high bidders through the end of Segment 3 of the Auction; informs high bidders of PUP hours, location and sales tax charges.
- Day Confirmers: (2) Must report during the day, 9AM to Noon. Calls all unconfirmed high bids from 4th segment of night before plus other unconfirmed bids. informs high bidders of PUP hours, location and sales tax charges. A behind-the-scenes job.
- Table Captain: (4) Organize tables, assist auctioneers, and organize incoming bids. A job for experienced auction volunteers who are detail and team-oriented.
- Treasure Chest Captain: Assist Treasure Chest Auctioneers by preparing them to read on-air copies. Oversees all paperwork routed to the Treasure Chest Board.
- Bid Taker: Answers the phone, take bids, fills out bid forms and gives completed form to Troubleshooter.
- Bid Runner: Accepts bid form from Troubleshooters; routes bid form to designated Table Captains.
Bid Sorter: Accepts approved bid form from Table Captain and sorts bid in high to low order.
- Food Service/Hospitality: Prepare beverages, coffee, tea, make popcorn, hand out sandwiches, ensure that Hospitality Table is well-stocked for volunteers.
- Information: Answers all questions about the Auction, including item donations; also, verifies Express Bid Numbers.
- Board Marker: Write incoming bids on the blackboard. Must be 5'7" and have good, legible handwriting (prefer in print).
- Express Bid Volunteer: Enters all express bid numbers in the computer and regularly distributes a master list of numbers to designated areas of the Auction.
Individual Volunteer: Snacks (or a meal) will be provided
Dress is casual
Afternoon, evening and weekend hours are available
Parking is available free of charge to our volunteers
Volunteer Groups: KEDT-TV Auction would be happy to have your business or civic group become the newest recruit in the Circle of Volunteer Groups. When 10 of your employees or organization's members sign up to help for a shift (approximately four hours) of the Auction, you'll receive the following benefits:
- On-air recognition while your employees or members are volunteering.
- Recognition of your support on the KEDT website.
- Recognition of your support in the on-air closing credits of the Auction.
Food and beverages provided. Being part of the Circle of Volunteer Groups is a great way to foster a sense of teamwork and is lots of fun. A variety of jobs are available.
