Open Position 1:
Radio Staff Announcer/News Editor
Full-Time/ hourly position – EEO/AA
Job Summary
Radio Announcer/Host on shows such as Morning Edition, Local Classical Music, All Things Considered and weekend programing as scheduled by the Program Director. KEDT’s format is a mix of NPR and local news, classical music and various Public Radio programs. The station has a strong focus on community engagement, local news and information
Responsibility
1. Serve as assigned by Program Director as primary host of Morning Edition, All Things Considered/Classical Music or other On-Air radio shifts.
2. Prepares local newscasts/assists with preparation of KEDT Midday Report/News series
3. Fills in as substitute host on other programs, as needed. Agrees to be ON-CALL during overnight and weekend hours, when required.
4. Assists with other radio station operations, such as setting the Automation, Production, On-Air Promos and Station Breaks.
5. Assists in preparation and execution of On-Air Membership campaigns and other fundraising functions.
6. Represents KEDT-FM and KEDT-TV at station involved community events.
7. Assists Program Director in archiving and scheduling of programs.
8. Research and development of newscasts and reports
9. Assists in writing scripts for promos, and Underwriting announcements.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director
11. Work as required by General Manager to provide critical news and information before, during and following disasters and emergencies.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum 1 year on-air broadcast experience, board operations and radio production.
2. Minimum of a College Associates Degree
3. Formal journalism training and experience preferred
4. Working knowledge of foreign languages and pronunciations helpful, especially Spanish,
5. Excellent communications and writing skills.
6. Strong organizational skills and ability to complete a variety of tasks on-time
7. Strong people skills and ability to interact with the public, volunteers and staff.
8. Flexible to work different schedules as required and arrive on time.
9. Working knowledge of computers and computer software.
10. Working knowledge of Public Radio Programs, practices and procedures is a plus.
11. Working knowledge of FCC requirements and regulations regarding Public Radio
12. On-air fundraising experience and Knowledge of Classical Music is a plus.
13. Valid Texas Driver’s License.
14. Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening

KEDT-TV/FM Webmaster & Digital Content Editor – Job Summary
Position Title: Webmaster & Digital Content Editor
Status: Full time/hourly (non-exempt)
Work Location:KEDT offices, 3205 South Staples Street, Corpus Christi, Texas
Position Summary: KEDT’s Webmaster & Digital Content Editor manages the development and operation of KEDT’s digital content on website, social media platforms, newsletters, podcasts and other digital platforms. EEO/AA
Position Overview:
KEDT-TV/FM is focused on strengthening and expanding its digital product content to better serve an audience on current and emerging digital platforms.
KEDT’s Webmaster & Digital Content Editor manages the development and operation of KEDT’s digital content including: website, social media platforms, newsletters and other digital platforms.
The Editor coordinates activities and strategies related to digital content. In coordination with KEDT staff, the Editor creates daily digital content and manages social media platforms. The Editor assists in the implementation of new digital initiatives to benefit the effectiveness and efficiency of KEDT’s operations. The Editor trains KEDT staff on digital platforms and works with station leadership to advance the mission of South Texas Public Broadcasting.
Qualifications:
- An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Experience in website authoring and operation, preferably with a media organization
- Experience with WordPress software
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in digital media audience research and data analysis
- Experience in video and audio production – a plus
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and station constituents
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, tools and trends impacting media
Duties:
Measure and enhance current digital services and implement addition digital services to increase KEDT’s digital content, community impact, funding and operational efficiency.
- Build, maintain and update the KEDT.org website
- Publish KEDT’s weekly electronic newsletter
- Publish social media posts that promote KEDT’s programming, services, funding and events
- Develop monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reports for KEDT’s Digital, Broadcast and community services. Present those findings to staff.
- Conduct SEO and reporting to optimize KEDT’s digital media performance
- Develop and maintain short- term and long-term calendar for digital media publication
- Work with KEDT staff to integrate TV and Radio content into station’s digital platforms.
- Work with KEDT development staff to implement digital services and tools to benefit the station’s fundraising efforts and operational efficiency.
- Develop marketing support materials to grow KEDT’s community engagement efforts, grant applications and development efforts.
- Research the various digital services offered to member stations by PBS and NPR. In collaboration with station management, implement new digital services and platforms that are determined to be beneficial to KEDT’s mission by the stations’ management team.
- Provide staff with training and assistance needed to implement digital services and platforms.
- Work with KEDT Management Team to grow and extend KEDT’s community impact and reach.
- Job involves occasional evening and weekend assignments
- Perform other duties as assigned
