Would you like to be a KEDT Food & Wine Classic "Corker"?

Corkers (wine pourers) receive one ticket to the event, a commemorative apron to be worn at the event, and a commemorative wine glass.

ALL corkers must be at least 18 years of age and TABC certified.  Google “TABC certification class” and pick the least expensive one.  In most cases, your certificate will be emailed to you immediately; at which point please forward to us.   We MUST receive a copy of your certificate for you to participate.

Please be mindful that volunteering to be a KEDT corker means you are committing to pour wine at your assigned table throughout the ENTIRE event, standing for long period of time, and possibly lifting heavy boxes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.  You will receive a break during the event so you can enjoy the food and taste wine from the other tables.

Also know that you are representing KEDT and taking responsibility not only for serving guests the appropriate amount of wine and using your best judgement to not serve someone who appears intoxicated, but you are also responsible for the amount that you consume.

As a new corker you will be assigned to a wine table with experienced corkers.

Corker responsibilities include:

  • Check-In at the museum is from 6:00-6:45 PM. The event is from 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM.
  • Starting at 7:00 PM serve samples only in a glass with the Food & Wine Classic logo.
  • If it appears someone has had enough to drink, alert your corker captain and he or she will take it from there. There are uniformed security officers on the floor.
  • At 9:30 PM start clean-up of your wine table. Details will be posted at your table.

The corker orientation before the Food & Wine Classic will be Tuesday, March 18, here in our KEDT studios, where we answer any questions you may have.
