This month, we’re tackling big ideas with Work It Out Wombats. Malik, Zadie, and Zeke are three energetic and creative marsupial siblings who live with their grandmother. They live in the biggest treehouse in existence, the Treeborhood, and work with their family and neighbors to solve problems by putting their heads together to figure out solutions.

Like the Wombats, kids can have huge dreams that they want to start working on now! Whether it’s building the biggest blanket fort or creating a new world for their toys, these goals can quickly become a lot for young ones to work out. Computational thinking is one simple way for parents to help kids process their ideas and make plans. While it might sound complicated, it comes naturally and is something your children are probably already doing! Work It Out Wombats is a great show to watch together to work on these strategies and learn more about how to best support and guide your young one.

Need an example of a fun problem to solve like the Wombats do? Be a sound detective with your family! This exercise is great for teaching cause and effect and having your kids spend time reflecting rather than reacting.
